ROMIRA's ROTEC® Acrylic Compounds impress with their brilliant color depth and are used in numerous automotive applications for unpainted exterior parts in deep black, attractive design colors and high-gloss finishes.

Custom color matches are created while ensuring compliance with color stability requirements following UV exposure and weathering. The unique ROTEC® Acrylic Compounds — designated as the ROTEC® AC-MA 470xx, 500xx, and 700xx series with enhanced heat resistance—also exhibit high impact strength and excellent scratch resistance compared to other plastics without a coating. Unlike other thermoplastics used in outdoor applications, the Mold In Color Acrylic Compounds allow scratch marks to be removed simply by polishing, restoring a smooth, glossy surface—a significant advantage that cannot be offered by PC-based or ASA thermoplastics, for example.

Compared to similar PMMA-based products from other manufacturers, this ROMIRA product offers, according to processors, up to 30% better process stability as well as an expanded process window. Visually, there is hardly any discernible difference between a painted automotive component and a trim part manufactured from unpainted ROTEC® AC-MA compounds.

In general, the characteristic features of ROTEC® Acrylic Compounds offer a balanced combination of the beneficial properties of other polymer materials used in exterior applications: In addition to excellent scratch resistance, these include weather resistance and color depth comparable to pure PMMA, impact strength comparable to ASA, and chemical resistance comparable to ASA or ASA/PC blends.

Colors without painting, 3D effects created by textured surfaces, and 3D effects in 2- or 3-component versions—these are in extremely high demand for emblems and lettering, especially in the automotive sector. ROMIRA’s Mold In Color solutions are highly valued for these applications.
